What are RCS messages?

You certainly know what an SMS message is! This text format was first sent in 1992 – at the dawn of the technological revolution. As for the acronym RCS – you probably still don't know what it stands for. Translating to Advanced Communication Services (Rich Communication Service), RCS is considered the evolution of traditional SMS messages. RCS is a messaging protocol for Google/Android users (with chat features similar to Apple's iMessage). With it, conversations may include multimedia (web browser, maps and images) and occur between companies and users' native inboxes.

Created in 2006, RCS came as a attempt to improve SMS by including features within new modern needs: including the sending images and videos, and greater security.
