Yes, the evolution of generative AI continues. OpenAI, the Artificial Intelligence research lab and creator of Chat GPT, hasn't confirmed it yet, but signals a new version of the technology for 2024. For those unfamiliar (or if you happen to have been off-planet lately), the Chat GPT is a generative Artificial Intelligence in Chatbot format capable of generating texts, audios and images on its own, following human guidance – and with each new interaction, it can improve and learn more. The Chatbot is trained with an abundance of data to interact with humans in a fluid manner, providing contextualized and meaningful feedback.
Released in late 2022 by OpenAI, the technology has become popular with experts and enthusiasts, expanding rapidly and even generating ethical discussions about privacy, data security, plagiarism and the replacement of human labor.

Competitors rushed to release similar versions, such as the Gemini, the Sonic or the Copilot.
GPT Chat: Versions
Since its launch, and like all technology, The Chatbot is updated in version format. At the moment, The free version of Chat GPT operates with GPT-3.5, which has some limitations, such as the lack of updated data.
To users willing to pay for Plus or Team version, have access to GPT-4, OpenAI's most current model, with greater understanding capacity and much more accurate responses.
GPT-5 would therefore be an improvement on what we currently have available, bringing improvements to such models.
GPT-5: When will it be released?
That's the key question! Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, only confirmed in an interview that the 5th version was being developed, but without a release date. Following the company's release schedule (every 2 years), it would be available by the end of 2025. What breaks this paradigm is information obtained by Business Insider, a major technology portal, which guarantees the launch of GPT-5 in the northern hemisphere for June, July or August of this year.

And what everyone wants to know: What does the 5th version promise to bring to this technology? Is there room for improvement/enhancement of the Chatbot? It seems so. Rumor has it that the new model will bring significant improvements, such as:
- Greater capacity of understanding and parameter expansion;
- Greater integration with other Artificial Intelligence tools developed by OpenAI;
- Multimodality: resources beyond speech and image; for example, the video processing integration (already present in other tools such as Gemini and Copilot);
- More accurate interactions and trustworthy (reducing AI confusion and “hallucinations”);
- Database expansion: the new model would be trained with a larger amount of data, overcoming current contextual limitations;
- Cost reduction when using the OpenAI API, making previous versions (GPT-4 and GPT-3.5) more accessible.
It's always important to emphasize that OpenAI doesn't officially confirm any releases or new features. It's even possible that the company will continue updating the fourth generation with version 4.5!
