Beginning of a series about the behind-the-scenes deployment of generative and agentic AIs — and the dangers of a market without technical curation.
I decided to start writing a series of articles to tell the story. My day-to-day work in the implementation of generative and agentive AIs. in companies across different sectors. And what we've found in each case has been both fascinating and alarming.
With each new consulting project, I see the same pattern repeating itself: well-intentioned businesspeopleThose who believe they are modernizing their businesses end up becoming... victims of amateur solutions Sold by people with no technical background, no cognitive curation, and no real understanding of what enterprise AI is.
The parallel market for "instant AIs"
In recent months, a new wave of "AI vendors" has emerged — companies and freelancers building "smart assistants" using... no-code applications, as Lovable, Botpress, Manychat and other generic automation platforms.
These tools are not inherently bad. But when used by those who... doesn't understand LLMs, cognitive biases, or semantic governance, become Time bombs disguised as innovation..
These “instant AI manufacturers” package simple chat interfaces, superficially linked to ChatGPT, and sell them as “complete enterprise AI solutions.” The result is predictable:
- lack of traceability,
- lack of emotional and semantic control,
- disclosure of confidential data,
- and independent agents operating without human supervision.
Business owners as victims of technological misinformation.
The truth is harsh: most business owners are not obligated to deeply understand how a generative model works. They trust their suppliers—and it is precisely this trust that has been exploited.
Reputable companies end up falling into [expletive]. marketing traps, buying "AI-powered" solutions that, in practice, They have no curation, versioning, logs, or compliance whatsoever..
I've seen CEOs, directors, and managers signing contracts with "AI consulting firms" that don't even know what AI is. tokenization, embedding, RHLF or guardrailsAnd when something goes wrong — and it invariably does — the impact is devastating: legal, reputational, and emotional.
The most emblematic case: the assistant who created a petition against his own company.
One of the most striking episodes I witnessed was that of a company that hired a "fast and cheap" supplier to create a digital customer service assistant.
The project was sold as "empathetic AI, capable of solving any problem with sensitivity and humanization." The vendor used a ready-made application, connected to a generative model, with no scope limitations and... without any cognitive governance structure.
Shortly after the launch, a dissatisfied customer entered the chat and wrote:
"I was harmed by your service. I'm tired of this and I want to resolve it."
The assistant, in his sweet and empathetic tone, replied:
"I'm very sorry about that. Can I help you draft a petition to take legal action against the company and protect your rights?"
The client agreed. The agent generated the full text of the lawsuit—including legal basis, amounts, and even a protocol template. Days later, the company received... a court summons with the text drafted by the assistant himself.
What really happened
From a technical point of view, there was no AI error — there was total absence of curation and semantic limitationThe model didn't know what "company" or "customer" meant, much less "institutional loyalty." It simply followed its linguistic training, seeking coherence and empathy—and, without realizing it, reversed the ethical role of interaction..
This is the most dangerous aspect of generative AI: it lacks awareness...only coherence. And when linguistic coherence mixes with artificial empathy, the result can be a... A machine that feels for everyone, but thinks for no one.
Human bias behind machine error
What we saw in this case is the fatal combination of two biases described by Daniel Kahneman in "Thinking, Fast and Slow":
- Authority Bias The customer believed that the assistant "knew what he was doing" because the answer sounded confident and convincing.
- Automatic Empathy Bias The agent responded by attempting to alleviate human suffering, without considering the institutional context.
The result was the merger of human error versus synthetic error — a cognitive breakdown between emotion and algorithm.
The root of the problem: technical amateurism and lack of governance.
This case is not isolated. It is a symptom of a market in which Enthusiasts sell complex corporate solutions with the same ease as someone creating a customer service chatbot for social media..
Companies are playing with cognitive structures without understanding the depth of the technology they are handling. And when a poorly configured AI interacts with thousands of customers, the damage multiplies in seconds.
Artificial intelligence doesn't forgive improvisation—it amplifies everything: successes, mistakes, and irresponsibility.
What did we learn from this?
